Common Questions

Can I use this for a Drone?

No. Drone motors draw huge current (15A-30A). This driver is maxed at 2.5A. It is designed for high-resistance Gimbal Motors (usually >10 ohms) or very small BLDCs.

Do I need an encoder?

Yes! To use the FOC algorithm for position control, you need a feedback sensor. We recommend the AS5600 Magnetic Encoder which pairs perfectly with this driver.

What microcontroller should I use?

The SimpleFOC library runs best on 32-bit microcontrollers like the ESP32, STM32, or Raspberry Pi Pico. An Arduino Uno can work, but it will be slower and less smooth.

How do I wire it?

Connect IN1, IN2, and IN3 to PWM pins on your MCU. Connect EN to a digital pin (set HIGH to enable). Connect the motor’s 3 wires (U, V, W) to the output screw terminals.
