18650 Lithium-Ion Rechargeable Battery – 3.7V
The 18650 Li-Ion Cell is the undisputed powerhouse of DIY electronics and robotics. Measuring 18mm in diameter and 65mm in length, these high-energy-density cells pack significantly more power than standard AA batteries. Whether you are building a custom power bank, feeding a power-hungry ESP32 IoT project, or driving high-torque DC motors, the 18650 delivers consistent, reliable voltage with excellent discharge rates.
Why choose the 18650 Battery?
- High Voltage & Current: A single cell provides a nominal 3.7V (4.2V fully charged), easily outperforming 1.5V alkaline batteries. Place two in series to get a perfect 7.4V for L298N motor drivers.
- Highly Economical: Fully rechargeable for hundreds of cycles. Say goodbye to constantly buying and throwing away disposable batteries during your testing phases.
- Standardized Form Factor: Fits perfectly into standard 18650 battery holder cases, allowing for rapid swapping and prototyping.
Common Applications
- Powering 2WD/4WD Robot Chassis
- IoT Node Power Supplies (paired with a TP4056 module)
- Custom Battery Packs (using spot welders)
- High-Power Flashlights & Lasers
The Bench Robotics Guarantee
- Verified Quality: Each unit undergoes a strict visual inspection and quality check in our Lucknow lab before packaging.
- Fast Dispatch: Orders are packed and dispatched within 12 hours.
- Bench Support: Verified customers get direct call/chat support for troubleshooting.

Common Questions
Can I replace my AA batteries with these?
No! An 18650 is much larger than a standard AA battery. More importantly, it outputs 3.7V compared to an AA’s 1.5V. Putting this in a standard AA device will likely burn the electronics.
How do I safely charge this battery?
You cannot hook it up directly to a 5V USB cable. You must use a dedicated 18650 wall charger, or integrate a TP4056 Charging Module into your circuit, which safely handles the Li-Ion charging curve.
Why did my battery suddenly stop holding a charge?
Li-Ion batteries hate being completely drained. If you run your robot until the battery drops below 2.5V, the internal chemistry can be permanently damaged (over-discharged). We strongly recommend using a BMS (Battery Management System) or a voltage monitor.
What is the difference between “Flat Top” and “Button Top”?
This refers to the positive terminal. “Button tops” have a slight bump (like a standard AA) and are good for flashlights. “Flat tops” are completely flat on both ends. Flat tops are standard for robotics battery holders and spot-welding custom packs.
Can I solder wires directly to the battery?
Absolutely Not! The heat from a soldering iron will damage the internal separator and can cause a fire or explosion. Always use a proper spring-loaded Battery Holder or a specialized Battery Spot Welder.
